Huawei Sued for Using US Company to Spy on Pakistan Using Safe City Project

California Business Efficiency Solutions (BEL) LLC, the Pakistani government, law enforcement investigators, and a government project, Huawei had to steal its trade secrets in response to an application submitted to the California Federal Court.

In a petition filed by Akin Gump, the world’s leading BES law firm Strauss-Kahn & Fields LLP argued that the Chinese technology giant used its technology as a “backdoor” to collect a large amount of information vital to Pakistan’s national security. Sensitive data.

First, a backdoor refers to a function or error in a computer system that allows secret, unauthorized access to data.

The petition stated that Huawei signed a $150 million contract with BES in 2016 to develop a software system to provide Pakistani police and other law enforcement agencies with the latest technology.

BES has developed eight software systems for collecting data from government agencies, controlling access to buildings, monitoring social media and other key functions, and managing drones.

The software system includes proprietary codes, designs, diagrams, and other information that BES considers to be valuable trade secrets.

Huawei forced BES to send the software system to China for testing. Although BES reluctantly agreed to Huawei's request, the Chinese company later cut off access to the software after restricting access to its testing laboratory.

As mentioned earlier, the Chinese technology giant did not reinstall or reinstall the software system.

Later, Huawei put pressure on BES to install Data Lab software in its test laboratory, this time not only for testing purposes but also for full access to the Lahore Safe City project.

BES installed the software after Huawei claimed that the Pakistani government granted it full access to the Lahore Safe City project.

This is just one example. The California company claims that Huawei uses its software system to access, manipulate and activate Pakistan’s national security in a similar “safe city” project in Pakistan. Create a backdoor to extract sensitive data.
