Why did PTA block your phone?
After some time of use, if your mobile phone is not registered with PTA, your phone will be blocked. Registering your phone is important as it helps the PTA keep track of devices that have been legally imported and smuggled into Pakistan.
In most cases, phones that owners carry while traveling abroad are unregistered with the PTA and will have to pay the relevant taxes to continue using them.

Here is how you can easily unlock a phone that has been blocked by the authorities.
- Open the official website of PTA by clicking on this link.
- In the lower right corner, you will see a menu. Select Final Online Mobile Online Registration to proceed.
- Once you click on this option, a new tab will automatically redirect you to the place where you need to create a new account and sign up as a new user.
- You will be asked to give your personal information such as your name, phone number, passport number, CNIC postal address, city, email address, and a password.
- Once you have completed all the details in the form, your sign-up process will be completed.
- You will be emailed an activation link through which you can access your account.
- Log in to your recently created account and register your phone.
- It is important to remember that you can register only one mobile phone a year for free. Any other phone you wish to register will require you to pay tax.
- You will also need to include your IMEI number, which can be found on the phone box.
- After submitting the form, you will receive a text message on your phone informing you of your PSID number and COC ID.
- If there is any tax whole that you need to pay for your device, it will additionally be mentioned in the SMS.
- To complete the registration of your PTA block phone, you need to pay tax at any major banking branch in Pakistan like MCB, ABL, or NBP, etc.
- After payment, you will receive a text message showing that your phone is now PTA approved.
How much tax will you have to pay?
The tax calculation depends on the price of the device you are using. Even if you bring a used phone from abroad, the tax on it will be as per its current market rate.
